We recommend you use the online tools to update or create your contact record. They can be found on our website at http://www.networksolutions.com/cgi-bin/makechanges/itts/handle. In these General Instructions, we provide an explanation of what information belongs in each of the fields, as well as a brief overview of how to fill out this form. If you choose to complete this format of the Contact Form, as opposed to using the online tools to complete the form, please note that when you send this to Network Solutions: 1. you should send only the Contact Form, from "[ URL ftp://www.networksolutions.com/templates/contact-template.txt ]" to "3c. Public (Y/N)............: " Do not send any of the information below the line that reads "...--- cut here ---..." 2. you should not alter or otherwise modify the Contact Form other than to enter your information 2. you should send it by e-mail only to hostmaster@networksolutions.com. Hard copies of this form sent via postal mail will not be processed. The Contact Form has three uses. It can be used to: 1. create a contact record in Network Solutions' database, 2. update a contact record, and 3. allow a contact to update his authorization scheme. The administrative, billing and technical contacts can use the Contact Form to update their respective contact records. Updates which can be made using this form include changes to the e-mail address, postal address, phone number, and fax number of the contact. Updates to an authorization scheme include changing information about the contact's Guardian method or moving from one Guardian method to another. CREATING A NEW CONTACT RECORD Because most contact records are associated with a domain name record, it's rare that you would create a new contact record independently from registering a domain name. However, because there are certain instances when you'd want to do so, as in the case of a host coordinator, host administrator, zone contact, and other similar instances, we make this option available to you. You need to know these things if you are using the text-based version of the Contact Form to create a new contact record: A. you should save a copy of the Contact Form onto your computer. Using your browser's tool bar, choose File, then Save As. Note the location and name of the file. When you are ready complete the Contact Form, open the file using a text- based document editor, such as NotePad or WordPad, complete the form, and save it using a different file name. B. you should only enter information to the right of the colon on any line. C. you should use only ASCII characters. D. when you e-mail the form to hostmaster@networksolutions.com, you should enter NEW CONTACT in the subject line of your message. There are a couple of things you should decide on before you register yourself as a new contact: 1. what type of contact you are: an individual or a role account. The only difference is this - a role account is a group of people acting as one, and an individual is just one person 2. what Guardian method you'll use to protect your contact record and domain names you are associated with and 3. what e-mail address you want us to use when we communicate procedural changes and other important information with you. If you decide to use the Mail-From Guardian method, you'll use this address to send us your updates and modification requests. Read FAQs about contact registration and modification on our Web site at http://www.networksolutions.com/en_US/help/contact.html.
